Police Officer Benjamin Vasquez
Citizen Compliment from Sheriff Kevin Rambosk
January 2010
We received a letter from Sheriff Kevin Rambosk who wanted to tell us of the excellent way members of our department handles a multiple vehicle, block long accident on Golden
Gate Parkway. He was traveling on the Parkway and came upon the accident. Within one minute, NPD personnel arrived on the scene. NFD personnel arrived shortly afterwards.
He stated that all officers and fire personnel immediately control of the scene, provided aid to the injured, safely controlled the flow of traffic and rendered the area safe for all involved and the public.
With the pro-active and professional direction, coordination and control of the incident by police and fire personnel, the situation was resolved efficiently, effectively and safely.
Congratulations on a job well done.

Phoenix Award
March 2009
On March 10th 2009, Officer Benjamin “Benny” Vasquez was one of 90 Collier County first responders honored with the Phoenix Award. Named for the Mythical bird that died and then rose from the ashes, the award is given to Police; Fire and Emergency Medical personnel who have brought people back to life.
It was while he was off duty, having fun at a friend’s birthday party, when Benny came to the rescue of 2-year-old Meagan Durocher. Benny was one of three people who pulled Meagan from a pool next to the party. Meagan is the niece of another Naples Police Officer, Steve Walden. It was Steve’s birthday the friends and family were celebrating. Benny performed chest compressions as one of the others gave Meagan rescue breaths. After a few minutes, Meagan began to regain consciousness.
Benny has been previously awarded the Naples Police and Fire Department Life Saving Award for his actions that day.
Officer Benjamin Vasquez is an example of what we mean by “To Protect and Serve.”
