LETTER OF APPRECIATION

Police Officer Jillian Cercone

Missing Person Call

January 2010

We received a call from Mr. Anderuska who wanted to pass along his thanks for the help you gave him when his elderly wife became lost at the Coastland Center mall.

He stated how grateful he was for the way and extent you went to in locating her outside the mall.

Congratulations on a job well done.

Outreach to area children/skateboarders

February 2009

While on patrol, Officer Cercone responded to a call of juveniles skateboarding in rear alleys and parking lots. When Officer Cercone arrived, she recognized the kids from the neighborhood and asked them why they were not at the skate park at Fleischmann Park. All of the boys stated they had never been there because their parents were unable to afford the membership fees.

Based on her earlier contact with them, Officer Cercone believed their explanation was true. She took it upon herself to meet with the administration of the skate park and secure free 1-year memberships for the kids. Officer Cercone then obtained the necessary authorization paperwork from all the parents, even seeking the assistance of some neighbors to help with translation on a few instances.

Officer Cercone is now working with our Community Policing Unit to get helmets for each of the kids.

Officer Cercone’s dedication to the children of the community is commendable and does a great service to the community, the department and the City of Naples.
